Brin’s 1st play date

Nick, Brin and I were invited over to Chris and Nona’s for dinner one night last week. They also invited over some new friends that Chris met on the train. They recently moved to Homewood from the city and know nobody! It was so nice to get to know them and hopefully see them more often. They live just a few blocks from both of us and have 2 daughters. Natalia is  2 1/2 and Josephine is 6 months old. It was so fun to watch Brin and Josephine interact. Hopefully this is a new friend for her to play with.

It is amazing how many people you meet and create friendships with because of your children. We have lived in Homewood for 7 years and really did not meet anyone until Chris and Nona came with their kids and then Brin as well. I definitely like it better this way…knowing people around me. Just funny…

So as I sit here blogging our latest happenings, I look over and see Brin, legs in the air sucking on her toucans nose…not sure what to think of that! :) P1100668 P1100672

Family time

We have been trying to take a walk after dinner most nights. On Monday night we bundled up, as the weather is cooling down, and took Brin and Lola for a walk. Brin cracks us up. As our walk is winding down, she is getting sleepy, she begins to “talk” LOUDLY and just lets her voice be heard as she bounces from my stepping…this puts her to sleep. It is SOO cute and funny to hear.

On this particular night, we left late, so our normal route was not in the cards, so we just walked our neighborhood. Upon ending the walk, a little white dog named Max was wandering around the street. Luckily he had tags and we were able to return him to his home. I wish we had the camera though…to see me with the baby in the carrier, carrying Max (a PLUMP little dog) with 1 arm, Nick trying to control our boxer who wanted to eat the Plump dog, searching for the house in the dark. Quite comical! P1100664

Lola

Most things that we have been posting here have been about the baby or outings. I am feeling a little bad for Lola, so here are a couple CUTE pics I took recently of her!

She is really good with the baby. She is very curious of her and can only take her being in bed for so long. Usually about 5:30 AM she is whining for us to take her out and get the baby us. Mind you, this dog would sleep until the very last minute before the baby came…now she is up at the crack of dawn wanting to play. OY! We still love her and are so glad she is in our family! 3 month pictures

On Saturday August 28th we took Brin to get her 3 month pictures. We went to Portrait Innovations in Orland Park. We had gotten a gift certificate from some girls at work and thought that would be a great place to do her 3 months pictures. Here are some of them:

Nick and I own the CD of pictures..should anyone want copies of them! There are MANY more…these are just a few and I did not post the BEST…cause we are sending those out this week for many of you to have…surprises, surprises! :)

THE CRIB IS HERE!!!

On Saturday August 28th we went to Lil Deb N Heir in Naperville to pick up Brin’s crib. We were SOO excited to get home to put it together. After picking it up, we had a few more errands to run. We got home about 7pm, in time for Chris and Nona & the kids to come over to celebrate Nick’s birthday with Sushi. They left about 9 pm and Nick and I got started on the crib.

Sweet pea slept GREAT in her crib. Even in spite of the cold that she has been trying to fight off. We propped her up on a wedge in bed and didn’t hear a peep until morning!

Great Grandma

On Sunday August 22nd we made the trip down to Forrest, Illinois to see Grandma Riedel. Nick and I had not been down to see grandma in a WHILE. Mom and Don were in for Claudia’s wedding and we thought that it was the perfect opportunity to go down to see her and meet Brin. Chris and Nona and the kids came along. Nick and I had just purchased the new car (Mazda CX 9) the night before, so that made the hour and a half drive go pretty quick and more “fun”. Nick was having a VERY hard time not having hand controls on the new car…so I drove…he didn’t like it. :)

When we got to Grandma’s we got a phone call from Aunt Bobbi that she was having us over for lunch. So we picked up grandma and took her to Bobbi’s for lunch. We had sloppy joes, chips, and pistachio salad. YUM!

Grandma enjoyed getting to meet Brin for the first time. She loved trying to get her to smile and do her ever famous tickle fingers. Here are some pictures of the day!
